Lagos, Nigeria – May 20, 2025
Trinity University is set to expand its academic offerings with the introduction of three new programmes: Biochemistry, Logistics Management, and Cybersecurity, beginning in the upcoming academic session this September.
This was revealed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Clement Olusegun Olaniran Kolawole, during his welcome address at the university’s 6th Founder’s Day celebration.
Highlighting the institution’s steady growth and commitment to academic excellence, Professor Kolawole shared that Trinity University began operations on May 20, 2019, with just 13 students and five staff members. Today, the university boasts a student population of approximately 1,800, with a dedicated staff strength of over 120.
“Everything about Trinity Foundation is ordered by God,” the VC remarked. “To the eternal glory of God, our student population has grown steadily, and our academic programmes have received full accreditation from both the NUC and relevant professional bodies.”
The institution currently runs 18 academic programmes which are all fully accredited by the National Universities Commission and the relevant professional bodies, including those approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
Professor Kolawole further emphasized the university’s commitment to academic stability, noting that the 2024–2025 academic year has run without interruption. He added that the first-tier students would be completing their second semester examination and proceeding on summer break, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, while the second tier would finish in mid-July.
The Vice-Chancellor praised the efforts of the university’s staff and students, describing them as talented, disciplined, and mission-driven. “We believe in producing students who are excellent in character, brilliant in skills, and poised to make meaningful changes wherever they find themselves,” he said.
In a gesture of appreciation, Professor Kolawole recognized the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for its continuous mentorship and academic support.
He expressed gratitude to Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, the Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, and her team for their collaborative role in Trinity University’s academic journey, including serving as external examiners and assessors for staff promotions.
The speech concluded with a call to all stakeholders and guests to celebrate and continue supporting Trinity University as it forges ahead with its mission of developing well-rounded graduates equipped to tackle global and local challenges.
